American Red Cross Awards National Lifesaving Awards to Seven Rescue Mission Staff           

On March 3, 2021, at a small ceremony at the Clarence L. Jordan Food Service and Culinary Education Center, the American Red Cross awarded seven Syracuse Rescue Mission staff members National Lifesaving Awards for their life saving efforts  over the past several months. Lisa Smith (American Red Cross Executive Director, Central and Norther New York Chapters) presented the awards. Lifesaving actions included CPR to unconscious individuals and the administration of naloxone to individuals suspected of a substance abuse overdose.

American Red Cross Certificate of Extraordinary Personal Action was awarded to Onondaga County Sheriff’s Deputy Stephen Smolen and Rescue Mission Case Manager Kyara Jones

American Red Cross Lifesaving Award for Professional Responders was awarded to Shift Leaders James Jordan and Keith Rodgers, and Client Care Specialist Melissa Swift

American Red Cross Certificate of Merit was awarded to Shift Leaders Dovenin Agbossoumonde and Rosalia Hernandez
