Rescue Mission Alliance Privacy Policy

(Updated April 27, 2017)

The Rescue Mission Alliance (Rescue Mission) believes in protecting the integrity of personal information gathered from our supporters and contacts through all of our communication channels, including visitors to our websites. We have created this Privacy Policy to communicate our practices regarding the collection and dissemination of the personal information of anyone who provides us with information about themselves. This applies to personal information gathered online, at Rescue Mission events, speaking engagements and volunteer activities, or provided through social media channels. Personal information is any information that might identify someone, such as a name, postal address, telephone number(s), or email address (referred to in this policy as “personal information”). This policy also applies to certain information that does not personally identify someone but is collected from visitors to our web pages.

By visiting the Rescue Mission websites, including RescueMissionAlliance.org and iShopThrifty.org, you accept the practices described in this policy.

Data Collection

The Rescue Mission’s websites offer online access to events, the ability to sign up for email and other communications, and opportunities to make a financial gift, apply for employment, and volunteer. The Rescue Mission will not collect personal information from you when you visit our websites unless you provide the information to us voluntarily and knowingly.

When you submit information to the Rescue Mission, we will use that information for the purposes for which it was provided. We may also contact you through various channels about other Rescue Mission activities and/or giving opportunities (such as email, social media, direct mail) or to contact you offline. For information on how we use donor information, see our Donor Privacy Policy.

The Rescue Mission uses third party vendors to provide services on our websites and for some administrative and marketing operations. The information that you submit on this site may be provided to those vendors on a confidential basis so that they can provide services on our behalf (such as data storage and maintenance or processing credit card transactions). The Rescue Mission also reserves the right to share information with legal authorities in response to a legal order or official request.

Rescue Mission websites may gather information about usage patterns and non-identifying information on visitors to the site. Our websites use of technology such as “cookies” (small files temporarily stored on your computer) to enhance visitors’ online experience and gather aggregate data about website use.

Cookies and other similar technologies collect non-personal information about the user of a particular Internet Protocol (IP) address. If you do not want information collected through the use of cookies, most browsers contain features to block them. (If you block cookies, however, you may lose some website functionality.)

Donor Privacy Policy

In addition to this Privacy Policy, the Rescue Mission has a Donor Privacy Policy. Donors include anyone who has made a financial or gift in kind contribution to the Rescue Mission Alliance. This includes those who have purchased registration or tickets to Rescue Mission events, including Ride and Run for the Rescue, Mission Possible and the Hope Awards.

Applying for Employment at the Rescue Mission

The Rescue Mission’s online jobs application system is operated through a third party service, with industry-standard security measures in place to protect information submitted by job applicants. The Rescue Mission will use the information provided solely for the purposes of filling a position. This use includes, but is not limited to, reviewing information submitted by job applicants, contacting applicants, and conducting background and reference checks.

Applying to Volunteer at the Rescue Mission

The Rescue Mission’s online volunteer applications request personal information and permission to complete background checks. Additional information may be requested by Rescue Mission staff to determine appropriate placement of volunteers. Volunteers receive communications from the Rescue Mission regarding events, giving opportunities and the organization’s volunteer needs.

Thrifty Shopper Rewards Club Members

Thrifty Shopper stores are a division of the Rescue Mission Alliance, and they generate revenues for Rescue Mission programs to end hunger and homelessness. Those who sign up for Thrifty Shopper Rewards cards online, in store or at an event receive email and/or mail about Thrifty Shopper sales, and Rescue Mission events and giving opportunities. Members can manage the types of email they receive or unsubscribe here.

Rescue Mission websites have security measures in place to protect the loss, misuse, and alteration of the information under our control. While we follow generally accepted industry standards to protect personal information submitted to us, no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100 percent secure. We strive to protect your personal information, but cannot guarantee its absolute security.
