We live in amazing communities in which donation drives take place regularly to benefit our organization. These drives are made possible by businesses, organizations and individuals who aim to help those experiencing hunger and homelessness in our communities. These drives also make it convenient for other community members to take part, which we greatly appreciate.
If you are looking for a way to give back to your community, but aren’t sure where to begin, consider organizing a donation drive! This volunteer opportunity, which is great for students, businesses and organizations alike, is made easier with the help of the Rescue Mission as we can provide collection barrels and promotional posters for your donation drive! Used clothing and household items donated to the Rescue Mission are given to people in need through our clothing outreach program or sold at our Thrifty Shopper stores. Proceeds from Thrifty Shopper store sales are then used to support Rescue Mission programs, which help the hungry and homeless within our community.

Shoes, Shoes & More Shoes
Ralph Rotella, owner of Discount Shoe Repair, will host his sixth annual shoe drive for the Rescue Mission with an incredible goal of collecting 15,000 pairs of shoes throughout 2016. Ralph began his charitable program in 2010 by collecting several dozen pairs of shoes, which he repaired and then donated to the Rescue Mission to help End Hunger and Homelessness. The next year, he more than tripled his collection. Then the donations grew exponentially into the thousands. We are so grateful to Ralph for his ongoing efforts to support our programs. If you have shoes you would like to donate to this cause, please bring them to Ralph’s store located at 116 E. Washington St. in Syracuse.
